While Nero fiddles

Funny thing about this Debt and Economic Crisis, many seen it coming prior to 2007. No one wanted to take the necessary steps to cushion the impact of this major economic crisis now looming over us. The National Debt has increased over $10 Trillion since 2007 and most every citizen was oblivious to this gross negligence by our elected officials. People can blame Bush all they want, but it was the Democratic led House and Senate that was the governing majority through the first decade of the 21rst Century. They were the guardian of the vault and the carrier of the credit card that President Obama refers to. Many want to blame the cost of both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars as the reason the National debt has increased. This is not true. The total amount spent for both theaters of war has been $1.4 trillion. That leaves over $8 trillion spent on other things. The only way out of this Debt crisis is to either increase the GDP by $30 trillion per year or offer pennies on the dollar for all the bonds issued to all people and countries that have sought this form of investment. We know that increasing the GDP from $16 trillion a year to $45 trillion a year is utterly impossible, but what about the other?? :)

We do not need new Amendments to the Constitution to solve the problems we have allowed our elected officials to create. The mechanics and tools are already in place. The power rests with the American people and our own desire to educate ourselves. I bet we would be hard pressed to find many that keep copies of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and other Amendments accessible to answer our own questions. Many speak that term limits are the answer to keeping our elected officials from becoming complacent and making the office they hold a lifetime career. We already have term limits and they are implemented at the Ballot box.

Unfortunately, we are a mix of people that no longer value our freedoms or our form of government. We have become a country of people that luxuries have become necessities and necessities have become hardships. We think others play by a different set of rules than we do, when in fact it is the very same rules that we have allowed the game to be played by. I am a very Conservative person, but when I read and hear people talking the talk of class warfare it causes me to stop and ponder what it is they are referring to. When the term rich is bandied about, are they referring to riches of life or to monetary idols that they worship at the alter of one's self worth? Hell, if we have to ride or run on the little paved bike trails that the government has built with our tax money and have to dodge a pot hole, we curse and wonder why someone doesn't do something about the hardship we have to endure in detouring around it. If it is in terms of monetary, then I am probably among the poorest. Anyone making over $75,000 a year is rich compared to me. But if they are talking of the riches of life, then I am far more richer than many that I come in contact with. You want to know who is to blame for the mess we are in? We are and the Politicians are the extension of our own wants, needs, desires, greed and uneducated decision making processes. While Nero fiddles and burns Rome, we are at the Coliseum watching the entertainment.
