Sixty-five years ago, 160,000 young soldiers, under the direction of General Dwight Eisenhower, changed the course of history. June 6, 1944, was the day Allied Forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France and turned the tide of World War II. General Eisenhower called the operation “a crusade in which we will accept nothing less than full victory.” The invasion of Normandy began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler.
The 65th Anniversary of D-Day gives us all a chance to remember this pivotal moment in history. There are more veterans of D-Day than any other engagement in World War II. If you have the chance, take some time to thank the veterans who put everything on the line in the name of freedom.
