Well, school is out and summer is here. The girls have started playing baseball again, especially since soccer is a banned sport around our house. My oldest just started coach pitch, the middle one is in her second year of T-Ball and the youngest thinks she is the cheerleader. It is quite a bit of fun to be there while they are practicing and learning how to catch, throw and bat. They have a lot of their mother in them, especially when it comes to sports.
I often wonder how parents can just drop their kids off and go about doing whatever it is they are doing while the kids practice. It is important to stay and watch your children practice. After all, how can you help them to be better if you don't know what kind of guidance they need in order to play better.
Today I took the day off and guess what we did, we practiced hitting and throwing. Our oldest is starting to connect with the ball and gets a big thrill when she hits it (since I get close when I underhand pitch, I am often in the line of fire).
Both girls went to a garage sale and found baseball shoes and helmets. They think they are in the big leagues when they don their equipment and hit the field. The only problem we have, is that our oldest thinks she has to be a fashion maven and have everything color coordinated, but I guess that is to be expected with the girls of summer.
AHHH, Baseball!! The American past time.
