Israeli officials have finally bowed to pressure and launched a military campaign into the Gaza strip to confront the Hamas terrorists. Hamas is an avowed enemy of Israel and its stated mission is the complete destruction of the Jewish state.
Hamas is a terrorist organization and proxy of Iran that seized control from the Fatah wing of the Palestinian Authority government in Gaza. Israel and Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire that was continuously violated by Hamas over several months. The cease fire did nothing for the security of Israel. Instead, it allowed the radical palistinian organization to build up its military arsenal. Many of the rockets that are directed at the population centers of Israel and its manufacturing process came directly from Iran with Syria as an accomplice. We in the U.S. are an unwilling accomplice as well. Our state department sent arms and ammunition to the PA to be used for security purposes. The arms were confiscated by Hamas. Hamas and its cousin Hezbollah have no intention of living in peace with Israel.
I am a strong supporter of Israel. The one thing that I find disturbing is that Israel bows to world opinion and fails to complete the job at hand. This has been on going for over 30 years and will only be settled by the complete and utter destruction of these radical terrorist elements.
Everyone that is familiar with the Israeli and Palestinian conflict knows that Israel pulled out of Gaza and the west bank, allowing the Palestinians to govern themselves. This was to be the trading land for peace deal that many pushed for. So far, this has not brought peace to the area. Instead, it has emboldened Israels enemies to continue the push for more concessions and in the process kill more Israeli citizens.
As an aside, I am surprised by the lack of knowledge of those that hasten to condemn Israel. They either do not have basic knowledge of the post WWI Balfour Agreement giving Britain mandated control of the former Ottoman territory of Palestine or the post WW ll U.N. recognition of Israels right to exist.
